- (Luke 21:28-31) And when these
things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your
redemption draws near.

you that the kingdom of

We may become depressed because of the worsening conditions in the world
and the uncertainty of future events. They can easily make us turn all our
attention to these problems and the evil in the world, which by no means is the
Instead of grieving over these matters – over matters that
we cannot change – it is much more reasonable to fix our attention on the
future kingdom of which Jesus spoke and to which the verses above refer. He
taught that when things in the world start getting worse at the end of time, it
is in fact a sign of the approaching kingdom
of God. So, the end of the present
age only means a beginning of a new age, a new dawn:
Then I noticed a human figure
walking along the shore towards me. I could see from far that he was carrying a
torch. It radiated light that was the color of the sky. I immediately knew that
it was the Lord. I could tell from the way He walked: purposefully but not
urgently. He is never in a hurry because time is subject to Him. As he
approached, I could see that He was dressed in a white cloak, which had been
tied from the front with a golden rope. There was golden embroidery at the hem
of His cloak and on the sleeves.
"It is both
the sunset and the sunrise," He said. "A sunrise in one place and a sunset
in another. You live in an evening of one age and in the dawn of another. You
are here so that you may learn more of the end of your own time and of the
beginning of the new time which is just dawning." (62)
From the Bible we can see that the present world is just a temporary
stage and it will eventually disappear. We can see this from rather many verses
in the Bible:
- (Matt 24:35) Heaven and earth
shall pass away, but my words shall not
- (Matt 5:18) For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth
pass, one stroke or one pronunciation mark shall in no wise pass from
the law, till all be fulfilled.
- (Hebr ,11) And, You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the
foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands:
11 They shall perish; but you remain; and they all
shall wax old as does a garment;
- (Rev 20:11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on
it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no
place for them.
A whole new kingdom, the kingdom
of God and a new Heaven and a new
Earth, will come to replace it. This is in fact the central idea of the whole
Gospel: that we can enter this kingdom through the grace of God. In addition,
there is nothing incomplete in this kingdom. There is no more sin, illness,
death, damnation, or night; the former things have passed away. The presence of
God is also characteristic of this kingdom:
- (Isa 65:17-18) For, behold, I
create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered,
nor come into mind.
18 But be you glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for,
behold, I create Jerusalem a
rejoicing, and her people a joy.
- (2 Peter 3:13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for
new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.
- (Rev 21:1-7) And I saw a new
heaven and a new earth: for the first
heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw
the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a
bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a
great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with
men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God
himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things
are passed away.
5 And he that
sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.And he said to me, Write: for these words
are true and faithful.
6 And he said to
me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give
to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God,
and he shall be my son.
- (Rev 21:9,10,18-27) And there came to
me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last
plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain,
and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem,
descending out of heaven from God,
18 And the
building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like to
19 And the
foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious
stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a
chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20 The fifth,
sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the
ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the
twelfth, an amethyst.
21 And the
twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the
street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22 And I saw no
temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the
city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory
of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the
nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of
the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.
25 And the
gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall
bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles,
neither whatever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written
in the Lamb’s book of life.
- (Rev 22:1-5) And he showed me
a pure river of water of life, clear as
crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the middle
of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of
life, which bore twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month:
and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in
it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall
see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,
neither light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light: and they shall
reign for ever and ever.
The same kingdom is also eternal. Many things – also good ones – are
only temporary, but several verses refer to eternity when addressing the kingdom
of God. It has no end and its
characteristic features are joy and freedom from all anxieties that people may
have. Furthermore, all short-term pleasures that we can get from sin are like a
fleeting glimpse or the flight of a bird. Let’s see some verses in the Bible
relating to this issue:
- (John 6:27) Labor not for the meat which perishes, but for that meat
which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give to
you: for him has God the Father sealed.
- (Dan 7:13,14) "I saw in the
night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of
heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that
all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not
- (Luke ,33) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the
Highest: and the Lord God shall give to him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his
kingdom there shall be no end.
- (2 Cor 5:1) For we know that if our earthly house of this
tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with
hands, eternalin the heavens.
- (1 Tim 6:12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal
life, whereunto you are also called, and have professed a good
profession before many witnesses.
- (Tit 1:2) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot
lie, promised before the world began
- (Hebr 12:28) Why we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved,
let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly
- (2 Peter ,11) Why the rather, brothers, give diligence to make your
calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into
the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- (1 John 2:25) And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal
ACCESS TO THE KINGDOM
As the eternal life, Heaven, and God's kingdom exist, it is good to find
out how to gain access to this kingdom.
The answer to this question is that God has already done
for us what we could never do. We do not need to try and merit an access into
Heaven and the eternal kingdom: everything has already been prepared for us. So
if you personally want to be saved and be a partaker of all of this, it would
be wise for you to carefully read the following lines. They indicate how you
can become a partaker of eternal life.
God sent Jesus. The first thing you should note is that God sent Jesus
to save you and every person so that we all could enter this kingdom. The
initiator was and is God Himself, and His motive was His love for all of us
because He does not want us to perish, that is He does not want us to go to
damnation. (Damnation is an issue of which Jesus spoke even more than about
Heaven and therefore, there is reason to take His words seriously. However, He
said that He has come to the world so that no one would need to go there; Luke ).
He wanted us to be saved and that is why He sent Jesus:
- (John ,17) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in him should not perish, but have
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved."
- (1 John 4:9,10) In this was
manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
- (1 Tim 2:3,4) For this is good and
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to
the knowledge of the truth.
Everything as a gift. God has already done everything for us in Jesus,
and another issue that needs to be understood is that salvation can now be
received as a gift and from grace. Salvation and access to the kingdom
of God do not depend upon our
goodness and ourselves, as we may often think, but everything is given by mercy
and as a gift, which also you can immediately receive. All this takes place
through Jesus because He has already become the way and door to the kingdom
- (Eph 2:8,9) For by grace are you
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
- (Rom )
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
- (Rev 21:6) And he said to me, It is
done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him
that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.
- () And the Spirit and the
bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is
thirsty come. And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
- (John 14:1-6) Let not your heart be
troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my
Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that
where I am, there you may be also.
4 And where I go
you know, and the way you know.
5 Thomas said to
him, Lord, we know not where you go; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.
- (John 10:9) I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Answering the call. Since eternal life, Heaven and the kingdom
of God exist, now you personally
must answer the call to this kingdom. Everything is ready on God's side, and He
is calling us to come to the wedding of His Son and the Church, and to receive
the water of life as a gift, and it is not worth your while to reject this
invitation. This means that you should not turn your back on His Son Jesus, who
is the way to this kingdom. Through Him we can all enter:
- (John 5:40) And you will not
come to me, that you might have life.
- (Matt 22:2,3) The kingdom of heaven is
like to a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to
the wedding: and they would not come.
- (Luke 14:15-17) And when one of
them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said to him, Blessed
is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom
16 Then said he
to him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were
bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
- () And the Spirit and the
bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty
come. And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
THE PRAYER OF SALVATION:
Lord, Jesus, I turn to You. I confess that I have sinned against You and
I have not lived according to Your will. However, I want to turn from my sins
and follow You with all my heart. I also believe that my sins have been
forgiven by Your atonement work and I have received eternal life through You. I
thank You for the salvation You have given me. Amen.
