Chapter 10 -
Who is teaching now?
We have already earlier talked
about how, according to the Watchtower Society, in order to understand the
Bible you need the help of "the faithful and wise slave class"
because they are the only accepted channel on Earth and distributes
"heavenly teaching" to people. This can be well seen in the next
quote:
All those who want to
understand the Bible should admit that "God's extremely manifold wisdom" can be
understood only through Jehovah's communication channel, the faithful and wise
slave. (Vartiotorni or the Finnish version of Watchtower, 1 October 1994, p. 8)
However, if we think that
teaching must only come from this "slave class", the problem is that
the people belonging to this slave class are very old. The last of them were
chosen to this class and heavenly hope already in 1931, more than 70 years ago
(this was told by Rutherford, the
second president of the Society), and they had to be tested witnesses already
then, meaning that they must be very old:
Because the purpose of those
who go to Heaven is to rule the Earth, it is clear that they must be tested
followers of Christ. This means that no babies or small children who have not
been completely tested during their Christian service which has lasted for
years will be taken into Heaven. (Sinä
voit elää ikuisesti paratiisissa maan päällä [You Can Live Forever in
Paradise on Earth], p. 124)
So, we can ask who teaches
now when the members of this "slave class" are already very old,
perhaps as old as 100 years? Are they still teaching or have younger people
taken their place? And if the younger people have taken their place, does the
Society not give a false picture of how the slave class acts as the channel of
spiritual teaching and directs people? Who of the representatives of
the Watchtower Society can honestly answer this question?
