Chapter 11 -
Where is salvation?
As comes to the rather odd
teachings of the Watchtower Society, they have also adopted salvation for
themselves just like so many other non-Christian organizations. The Watchtower Society
says that a man can be saved only by belonging to this organization:
Do not think that there are
different ways and means by which you can get life in God’s new creation. There
is only one way. Several boats did not survive the Flood, only one boat did. In
the future “great tribulation”, only one organization will also be saved, the
visible organization of God. (…) You have to belong to the organization of
Jehovah and to do the will of God in order to receive his everlasting blessing.
(Sinä voit elää ikuisesti
paratiisissa maan päällä [You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth], p.
255)
But it is good for you, a
Jehovah's Witness, to note that as far as the Bible is concerned, salvation is
only in one name, in other words in Jesus, not in any organization. No
membership of an organization or church can compensate Jesus, in whose name
only you can be saved:
- (John 14:6) Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.
- (Acts 4:11-12) This is the stone which
was set at nothing of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Neither do you need to wait for
the millennium to achieve the approval and salvation of God: you can be saved
immediately, now. It takes place simply so that you turn to Jesus Christ and
ask Him into your life (you can, for example, say, " Lord Jesus, come
into my life!”). If you have done this, you have then the adoption of God
and eternal life:
- (John 1:12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on his name:
- (1 John 5:11-13) And this is the
record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his
Son.
12 He that
has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life.
13 These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the
Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may
believe on the name of the Son of God.
THE PRAYER OF SALVATION:
Lord, Jesus, I turn to You. I
confess that I have sinned against You and have not lived according to Your
will. However, I want to turn from my sins and follow You with all my heart. I
also believe that my sins have been forgiven by Your atonement and I have
received eternal life through You. I thank You for the salvation that You have
given me. Amen.
